Right of life: Abortion

In Thinking Skills we worked with "right of life", so my group and me we did a presentation about abortion, if it could be legal or not.

En la clase de sociología estuvimos trabajando con la bicicleta y luego junto con la materia TICs tuvimos que diseñar una aplicación relacionada a ella. La nuestra se trata de una forma de mensajeria instantanea usando la bicicleta como medio de transporte.

Un extraño planeta

En la clase de literatura estuvimos leyendo varios cuentos sobre la ciencia ficción, y sobre su significado. La profesora nos pidió que escribamos un diario que este vinculado con el cuento "un extraño planeta", encontrando una cura para derrotar a los polipteros. Acá esta mi diario:

Mayo 13
En el planeta, me cruzo con los bichos más extraños que vi en mi vida, los polipteros, empezamos a pensar con mi amigo Carlos cómo podíamos controlarlos. Carlos tenía una mancha en la mano que es por eso que el día de hoy no tuvo contacto con los polipteros  por qué cuando estaba cerca de ellos, la mancha se agrandaba. En cambio, a mí no me pasaba lo mismo, no entendía por qué pero yo no tenía una mancha y hoy pase todo el día con ellos estudiándolos, hice muchos experimentos en el laboratorio, pero ninguno dio resultado. A la mañana eran 10 y hoy a la noche se reproducieron y eran 50.

Me levante y los polipteros eran 150, y me di cuenta que tenía que encontrar una cura en este instante. Carlos me dio un experimento para que haga en el laboratorio, ya que el no podía entrar por qué estaban todos los polipteros. Hago el experimento, se lo tiro a los polipteros y en ese mismo instante todos crecieron de tamaño y se reproducieron mas rápido de lo normal. Durante todo este día, me concentré en buscar la cura para este significante error. Carlos estaba más expuesto a los polipteros ya que todos no entraban en el laboratorio. Estaba todo mal, Carlos empeoraba ya que las manchas crecían y empezó a tener fiebre, y no podía controlar a los polipteros.

Cansado de buscar la cura del experimento que había creado Carlos, me di cuente que en realidad no tenía que estudiar a los polipteros como había hecho todo este tiempo, sino que me tenía que estudiar a mí mismo. Durante estos días me fui dando cuenta que cada vez que yo entraba al laboratorio y tocaba uno se moría. Entre al laboratorio buscando desesperado todo lo que había usado, haber si mi dedo había tocado un químico que los mataba. Sin embargo, no encontré nada.

En este día me di cuenta realmente de lo que había pasado. Mientras Carlos estaba tirado en la cama en sus últimos momentos, yo seguía buscando todos los químicos, cuando vi un frasco que no tenía ningún químico pero estaba roto. Me puse a pensar y me acorde que el primer día, cuando Carlos y yo estábamos en el laboratorio, a mi se me había caído un frasco con un químico llamado "Jalep" que toco mi piel, pero la de Carlos no. Jalep es un químico con mucha acidez y es un agente reductor que significa que dona electrones a cualquier cosa que toca, es decir que cuando se cayó en mi dedo, me trajo más átomos negativos, y cuando toco a un poliptero, le transmito esos electrones y se mueren. A nosotros nos cura las heridas, mejorando la resistencia de la piel, ya que somos inmunes a los electrones, pero a los polipteros, como no tienen nuestra misma piel, les hace daño. Desde ese día cuando tocaba un poliptero para examinarlo, moría. Es así que agarre todos los frascos que tenían el químico "Jalep" y le tire en la mancha de Carlos un frasco, se curó al instante, se le fue la mancha y se sintió del todo bien. Los dos entramos al laboratorio, a Carlos ya no se le hacían manchas, y lanzamos el químico por todo el laboratorio. Es así, que todos los polipteros murieron.

The use of cars

On the cities, the majority of the people use cars, however this is a problem. The facts has many facts that damage the world, for instance the car releases smoke that pollute the atmosphere. The government should discourage the use of cars with education and investing.

On the one hand, people must know the disadvantages of the use of car. The government has to teach about the environmental problems. Every single means of transport realeses fumes to the atmosphere causing pollution and smog. Moreover, there are more consequences, it also cause health issues to people since they produce visual pollution. As there are too many cars, there are accidents and traffic jamps causing stress on people driving.

On the other hand, the government should improve the public transport, so people won't need their cars. The government should invest in special lanes for buses and increase the amount of public transport. However, what is more important is the quality of the transport. They have to be clean, cheap and comfortable so in this way people want to use them.

To sum up, if the government educates people and invests in public transport, the city will be clean, the pollution will be reduced and will be less health problems for people. With all these facts, who gives a better city for the people.

USA: Presidential election 1932

In the class of history, we were studying USA and we wrote an essay answering the question: How important were Republican reactions to the Wall Street Crash as causes of Roosevelt’s success in the presidential elections of 1932?
Here is mine:

Roosevelt was elected president in 1932. The Wall Street Crash brought important Republican reactions to Roosevelt’s success.

On the one hand, Hoover’s actions helped Roosevelt rise on power. Hoover war regarded as ‘do nothing’ president. He cut taxes to improved the economy and introduced tariff to protect US industry. Hoover said that prosperity was just around the corner and that was not involve in economy. He believed that social security was not responsibility of the government. These events, with the international trade, marked the depression worse.

On the other hand, Roosevelt was democrat and he prepared a plan to be president. Roosevelt made a campaign, he made 16 major speeches and another 60 from the back of his train. He promised the American people “New Deal”. He travelled throughout the country expanding his campaign Roosevelt’s as a politician believed in an ‘active government’ to improve the lives of ordinary people. He had plans to spend public money on getting people back to work.

To conclude, Roosevelt was elected president in 1932 due to Hoover’s action and due to Roosevelt’s campaign as he become popular. He solved the problems Hoover left. The Republican reactions were important for the Roosevelt's success, however Roosevelt actions were more important since he spread his proposal for a huge change which the people needed.

USA: credit and hire purchase

In the history's class, we had studied USA and we wrote an essay answering the question: How important were credit and hire purchase as a reason for economic growth during the 1920s?

Here is my essay:

In 1920s there was an economic boom in the USA that improved the USA as a country. There are many reasons why this happened and one could be the role that credits and hire purchase took.

On the one hand, credits and hire purchase allowed Americans to buy everything. Moreover, Americans started to use new methods. New techniques together with mass production meant that huge amounts of goods could be produced much more cheaply and more people could afford them. In this way, it was easy to buy in USA, because of ‘Buy now pay later’ so people can buy on credits and allowed families with low incomes to buy goods. Big industries such as the motor car industry used hire purchase schemes and 6 out 10 cars were bought on credit. This cause to people to had confidence, ordinary people had a house and a better quality of life as they paid on credits having confidence that they could paid their loan. Also business people get rich, as they started to invest in the stock market, they started to speculate, this meant that they borrow money from banks to bought shares on margin, then sold them again as soon as the prices has risen and then they paid off their loan and still had a quick profit. As confidence was high, banks started to lend money and many new millionaires appeared, so people invest money on companies.

On the other hand, the industries grew with the First World War as they sold arms, food and money to Europe. With this advantage, USA became the world leader in many sectors. The industry of oil was the best in the world and the chemical industries outstripped Germany. Electrification has a huge role too, since electricity was extended to new areas of the country and allowed for more productive factories. Besides, the Republicans policies helped too. There was tariff that protected the companies, there was laissez-faire that the government didn’t intervene in the people’s life and there was low taxation because in this way people had more money to spend, and this allowed profits to increase. Due to this, mass production became popular, after the Ford’s assembly line production invention in the motor industry that produced many consumer goods. Industries used other methods to attract people to buy. Big industries used sophisticated sales and marketing techniques to get people to buy their goods. There were advertising campaigns for buying new consumer goods. Poster and radio advertisements encouraged Americans to spend, like the idea of ‘Buy now, pay later’ was spread so more people started to buy goods because the ‘being careful with money and saving for a rainy day’ was replaced by a belief that spending money was a better quality of life.

To conclude, hire purchase and credit were important in the economic boom as they encourage people to buy. However, there weren’t the main factor for the economic growth. There are huge of reasons why there was an economic boom and hire purchase and credit was only a grain of sand.
